How do you know if you’ve communicated effectively?

The best way is to ask what the person or people understood.

Avoid asking ‘right?’ or ‘do you understand?’
Because the answer to those questions is either ‘yes’ or ‘no,’
and give you no information.

To make sure you are aligned and moving in the same direction:
Consider something like:
“Just so I know I clearly communicted, what did you hear me say?”
Or
“What is your understanding of next steps?”
