What does it take to bring fresh eyes to a situation?
Fresh eyes bring new life to just about anything and are one of the keys to innovation. Here are a few suggestions:
Write down what you appreciate about the situation — look for the gift — this may remove reistance
Approach with questions as if you know nothing
Physically change yourself with respect to the situation, take a different route, move your chair, etc.
Consider the opposite of what you perceive
Find someone who knows nothing about the situation ask him or her for perspective
Take a break — exercise
Let it go for a longer period of time here I write about what I did

I think one key to truly answering this question is to define innovation. Creativity is the generation of an idea. Innovation is putting the idea into practice.
