I’m willing to wager it is an excuse for most to escape from reality and retailers to market their wares.
Most of the real meaning is lost as is with Memorial day, fourth of July and Labor Day.
I never really needed an excuse to get drunk.

We use to celebrate famous president’s birthdays. It became so time consuming the retailers consolidated it to Presidents day sale. Most of those presidents were notorious but a retailer wouldn’t tell you that. Then there is Christmas. This is the biggest farce of all. Most will exclaim, “I can’t wait for the holidays to be over”, while they go into excruciating debt to achieve a relentless goal of love from others.
The world is so impressionable its ludicrous.
Now we have Mr. Trump. He’s so famous because America didn’t have the courage or a representative to stand up for their frustration. I think we have a strong enough defense system to protect his condescending behavior should he make it to office. He is only being our mouth peace (that is how I meant to spell piece).
